Cain murders Abel

Artist name: Burne-Jones Edward

Cain lifts a large club and grabs Abel’s hair, about to strike him. Abel lies at Cain’s feet, naked, looking up piteously and trying to defend himself by pushing his brother’s legs. Cain’s face is turned from the viewer. Behind them are two altars: Cain’s offering of fruit remains untouched, while Abel’s lamb burns vigorously.
