Crossing of the Red Sea

Artist name: Rosselli Cosimo

Led by Moses, pictured as a young man holding a short staff, the Israelites stand on dry land after crossing the Red Sea and watch the Egyptian pursuers as they are engulfed. On the Israelite side, Miriam the prophetess praises the Lord’s might, together with other spectators, who crowd together beside her and up the mountain. Above the Sea rises the pillar of fire. The painting’s attribution to Rosselli is uncertain.
