Sacrifice of Isaac

Artist name: Lievens Jan

Abraham bends over his son, the knife in his raised arm. He is stopped by a winged angel, who points heavenward with one hand and toward the ram with his other. Isaac is portrayed as a small terrified child, nearly naked, who lies before the burning altar and reaches out, begging to be saved.
